I’m going to just say it. Works for me Wednesday’s stress me out. They might be the most stressful part of my week. I have to think of some great tip and then be witty and funny so that all the random people that visit my blog will want to come back despite my long run on sentences. So if you’ve come to visit and this doesn’t really float your boat, you should come back again.
If you’re like me you buy bananas by the bushel (do they come in bushels?). With 5 kids, two of them being toddlers, we go through enough bananas a week to support a village in South America (bananas come from South America right?). Sometimes, for whatever reason, they don’t get eaten right away. Once they turn brown and spotty no one wants them.
When they are all brown and spotty but before they turn black (which is the prime time to make banana bread) I peel the bananas and stick them in a freezer bag and freeze them whole.
Then when the kids complain about needing to eat between meals, which seems to be all the time, I can offer them banana frosties. All you need to do is throw a couple of bananas into your blender with enough milk to make it your desired consistency. Blend and serve. This is a quick, healthy, and cheap snack that my kids LOVE.
Disclaimer: This wasn’t my original idea. A great friend made these for the kids a few weeks ago (while us grownups had alcoholic slushies, praise to their new ice cream maker). But this was just too good to keep to ourselves and that’s what works for me.
I like the milk and banana ideal. Thanks for yje new one on me. Have a great week.
You should totally tell us about the alcoholic slushies!
Great Idea we do the banana bread thing a lot oh and in pancakes and waffles too
I think you wrote this post just for me. I made banana bread by the week because everyone in my house hates to actaully eat bananas (ewww the texture!) but we all love banana bread. Weird, I know. But I don’t love to bake, so sometimes, they just sit, until weird little gnats start flying around.
I’ll come back for more run on sentences if you come over for sentences that start with And, But and So instead of real words!
Well, I always freeze my nana’s but this is a fabo idea! Thanks. And I love run-on sentences by the way.
Really great idea : ). Tasty and nutritious! Your blog header is adorable!
Like Elaina, I too added mashed banana to our Saturday morning pancakes this past weekend and I add frozen banana to my our fruit smoothies for a creamy texture. I’ll definitely give your tip a try-sounds like a banana milkshake. YUM…
